Beta test for Computing for Sustainable Water (June 5, 2012)
We are starting a Beta test for Computing for Sustainable Water today that will test a code optimization. This change is to address the runtime discrepancy between windows XP and Windows 7. The change is also beneficial to Mac and Linux at the same time. We are expecting to see an increase in efficiency by 400-600% from our initial testing. This means if your computer ran a work unit in about 4 hours, you will probably complete a work unit in around an hour.

The application version will be testing work units that have already run through the grid to make sure the results match what was sent initially. We will be sending out 5000 work units with Zero Redundancy (ZR) but since it is a new application version additional copies will be sent out.

Optimized Version of Computing for Sustainable Water
World Community Grid is pleased to announce that we have optimized the performance of the Computing for Sustainable Water research application. Using the optimized version of the application, a work unit will run in a quarter of the time it took originally while maintaining the data integrity. Your computer will automatically download the optimized version the next time it is assigned a work unit from the Computing for Sustainable Water project.

Re: Zero Redundancy Change for the VINA application!
We have completed the three steps above. Starting now, new workunits loaded into the system for GO - Fight Against Malaria (GFAM) and Drug Search for Leishmaniasis (DSFL) project will be set to run without redundancy.

There is a buffer of work that we keep loaded into the system. The workunits that run without redundancy will start being distributed on sometime after about 15:00 UTC on Monday June 11th.

We will prepare Say No to Schistasoma (SN2S) once we are ready to resume distributing workunits for the project.

Beta test for Computing for Sustainable Water 64 bit (June 13, 2012)
Greetings everyone!

We are starting a new beta test which is going to test the 64 bit version of the application. We are going to send out 5,000 work units which will go out to both the 64 bit and 32 bit version. 64bit version of CFSW will show up as version 6.12 for the Beta.

Reduced Help Fight Childhood Cancer project priority
We have reduced the feeder priority of the Help Fight Childhood Cancer project due to an outage on the research server. The reduced priority will still allow users with only the HFCC project selected to continue to receive work while users with a mix of projects selected will receive a smaller percentage of HFCC work units.

Beta Test GPU for Help Conquer Cancer v 6.45
We have received a new version of the code for the ATI gpu version. It ran clean in our testing so we are ready for another round of beta testing. We are looking to see if this significantly reduces the number of invalid results that we have been seeing during previous rounds of testing.

Workunits will be available shortly.

In this round we are only testing GPU versions (NVIDIA and ATI).

Beta test for Drug Search for Leishmaniasis 64 bit (July 5, 2012)
Greetings all,

We are starting a beta test for 64 bit version of VINA with Drug Search for Leishmaniasis (DSFL). We will be sending out work units for Windows, Mac and Linux on 32 bit as well as 64 bit. The application versions will be 6.26 within your BOINC agent. We are sending out 5000+ work units.

Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma 64 bit (July 6, 2012)
We are starting the Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma 64 bit application. This test will have both the 32 and 64 bit versions going out to Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. The test will have 3,500 work units that need to be sent. Application version will be 6.21 for this test.

We are starting the Beta test for GO - Fight Against Malaria 64 bit application. This test will have both the 32 and 64 bit versions going out to Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. The test will have 2,750 work units that need to be sent. Application version will be 6.13 for this test.

Reduced FAAH and GFAM project priority
We have reduced the feeder priority of the FightAIDS@Home and GO Fight Against Malaria projects due to an outage on the Scripps research server. The reduced priority will still allow users with only the FAAH or GFAM projects selected to continue to receive work units while users with a mix of projects selected will receive a smaller percentage of these work units.

Another Round of Beta Testing for HCC1 - GPU
We have modified the research application to block suspend and exit requests during kernel execution as well as made some changes to the error codes error returns easier.

There are about 6000 results ready to be processed during this test.

Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma Mac 64 bit only (July 10, 2012)

We have determined what the issue was with the previous 64 bit Mac version and are releasing 500 work units to test the fix. This version is for Mac 64 bit only version will show up as 6.22.

Re: Reduced FAAH and GFAM project priority
The Scripps research team has set up a temporary server to receive results and provide batches to WCG. As a result FAAH has been returned to it's normal priority. However, since the server has less capacity than the original server, GFAM is continuing to run at a reduced priority.

Beta Test for Help Conquer Cancer - GPU v6.47
We have started another round of beta testing for Help Conquer Cancer GPU.

In this round we have changed the following:
•Fixes to how we identify which GPU the app should run on

•Change to require 1 CPU in addition to the GPU (this causes the client to run the app at IDLE priority class rather than NORMAL)

•Research application fixes (there were a couple of cases that had errors, this version fixes that)
