Welcome back all participants returning to Einstein@Home. If you lost your password you should go to the "Get account key" page and have your key emailed to you. You can then use the account key to log into the your home page and change your password.

There was a disk failure in the Einstein@Home project server. The scheduler has been left offline for the time being until we can figure out why the WU generator cannot be started.

Project News February 18, 2006
There was a disk failure in the Einstein@Home project server on February 17 at 20:47:08 UTC which was handled correctly by the RAID controller hardware but not by the OS driver, resulting in an unwritable file system. This was fixed by David Hammer within about five hours. During this time, file uploads and downloads were not possible. About two hours after the disk was replaced and the file systems was repaired, a bit of fussing was also needed to restart work unit generation and the scheduler. The project is now up and running again. There was no data loss or corruption and we do not expect any further issues. Note that this was our first project downtime in approximately 8 months.

Einstein@Home will briefly be taken offline while memory is being added to the database server. The maintenance will start at March 5 01:00 UTC and will last approximately 2 hours.

Einstei@Home将在UT时间3月5日1：00-3：00（北京时间9：00-11：00）为数据库添加内存，在此期间项目将暂停。

Einstein@Home was temporarily shut down for a planned hardware upgrade but we ran into a problem that resulted from the new hardware setup. We will bring the project back online as soon as we are confident that we have fixed the problems. We now hope to have the problems fixed by Mar 5 09:00 UTC.

The addition of 16GB of memory to the database server caused an unexpected problem. It exposed a bug in the 3ware Linux disk controller driver which took many hours to identify and understand. The project was back up and running soon after 13:00 UTC today. We do not anticipate any further issues, and apologize to project participants for the unanticipated downtime. On the positive side, the memory upgrade will make the Einstein@Home web pages and project forums snappier and more responsive.

给数据库服务器添加16G内存时，碰到了一个linux磁盘驱动的臭虫，这个臭虫让我们花费了很多时间。项目在UTC时间今天下午一点后已经恢复正常。我们为此期间给用户带来的麻烦深感抱歉。好消息是项目的网页和论坛都将受益于新加的内存。

The project server was shutdown for a few hours today while we fixed a server bottleneck. The project is running again but may be a bit slow for the next day while working though the backlog.

今天项目服务器关闭了几个小时以修复一个服务器的瓶颈。现在项目已经在运行，但之后的一天可能会有点慢。

The database server went down at 16:01 April 10 UTC and resulted in various problems for the project over the next three hours. All parts of the Einstein@Home project appear to be operating properly now.

数据库服务器在UTC时间4月10日下午4:01死机，导致随后的三小时出现了不少问题。目前已经恢复正常。
