2011-10-27: Einstein@Home - Einstein@Home discovers a new radio pulsar in Arecibo data
I am delighted to announce that Einstein@Home has discovered a third new radio pulsar in data from the Arecibo Observatory. This is the first Einstein@Home discovery in Arecibo data taken with the new "Mock" back-end spectrometer. The pulsar is unusually interesting, as is a short-period (millisecond) pulsar in a binary system. Further details about the newly-discovered pulsar can be found on this web page, and will be published in due course.

目前分别是abp 3颗,brp 2颗,pmps 10颗,那总共应该是15颗,这些都是新发现的脉冲星。

Einstein@Home passes 1 Petaflop of computing power!
Congratulations and thank you to all Einstein@Home volunteers: sometime shortly after January 1st 2013, Einstein@Home passed the 1 Petaflop computing-power barrier. To put this in context, according to the current (November 2012) Top-500 computing list, there are only 23 computers on our planet that deliver this much computing power.

(One Petaflop is 1,000,000,000,000,000 floating point operations per second.)

Congratulations and thank you again, and keep on crunching!

In September, the European Space Agency will begin the formal competition for its second "large" satellite mission, L2. The space-based gravitational-wave observatory eLISA (evolved Laser Interferometer Satellite Antenna) will be one of the contendors. There is a web site where members of the public can register their support for eLISA. This takes just a minute, and is an easy way for you to support future efforts to detect and study gravitational waves and gravitational-wave sources!

Gravitational Wave S6 LineVeto search (extended) endingEinstein@Home is slowly but steadily finishing the current Gravitational Wave search. The data used for this search will not be re-used for subsequent searches. This means that our "locality scheduling" won't be as effective as before to keep the download volume low. In this finishing phase you may receive tasks that require you to download 100MB or more to process. If you don't want this to happen, you may suspend the Einstein@Home project for a week or opt-out of that application in your EInstein@Home preferences (on "your account" page).

Congratulations to our volunteers James Drews, UW-Madison and juergenstoetzel. Their computers have discovered a new radio pulsar J1859+03, in data from the Arecibo Observatory PALFA survey.

Drews works at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and is the ninth-ranked Einstein@Home volunteer, measured by total computing credits. This is his second pulsar discovery!

Project downtime tomorrow
Einstein@Home will be shut down tomorrow (Wednesday Oct 8) morning (CEST) to perform some urgently necessary database work. We expect this to take a couple of hours.

大意:
10月8日项目停机维护,修复数据库连接问题。

译注:
项目恢复后boinc会频繁提示:‘2014/10/9 9:50:58 | Einstein@Home | Scheduler request failed: HTTP file not found’错误。
需要手动刷新项目几次,这个错误出现多次后,boinc会自动更新master file,然后就正常了。
