主要研究“蛋白质折叠预测”，但又与 FAH 和 Rosetta 有所区别。（什么区别不知道。）

最近还算稳定，只是10月11日得分为0.




但似乎“存盘点”是个问题。

看了半天都不知“存盘点”究竟如何。
一个任务可能要几个小时，现在准备关机了，测不了……

Modelling Linker structures for the circularization of proteins貌似算到10%左右还没有存盘点，关闭BOINC再打开后，进度归零，不过屏保倒是很赞。

官方回复如下：

Hello boboviz,
yes right now we have not implemented checkpoints. So unfortunately if you shutdown your computer the jobs will restart.

就是目前还没有存盘点的意思。技术达人Coleslaw给出的不完美解决方案：

Until there is checkpointing, donors can always install a virtual machine and enable snapshots. It isn't a perfect solution, but if you are worried about losing work from a restart, this will cut down on that.

安装虚拟机，在虚拟机里运行BOINC，需要关机时保存虚拟机快照从而减少WU的进度丢失。
官方说会尽快搞定存盘点的。

Yeah we know that our jobs are running quite long and that it is a big problem for many that they cannot be continued after an interruption. But at the moment we are trying to automate some task internally, to free the developers of the daily routine jobs so they can take care of issues like this. But this unfortunately takes time, but we are sure it will pay off soon.

官方有个Related Projects页面，里面介绍了一些boinc平台下的、知名度较高的项目，并且可以通过boinc-manager进行操作、增加的（you can add each of them easily with the BOINC-Manager and not only support us），然后～～～～然后出现FAH是要闹哪样啊？

与FAH、Rosetta的区别：（个人拍脑袋结论）
FAH和Rosetta是研究蛋白质的折叠过程的（方法不同），但现在这个项目的目标是通过在已经折叠结束、稳定的蛋白质体上增加一些新的玩意，看看会出现什么状况（The project of Heidelberg's iGEM Team 2014 is dedicated to the modification of existing proteins, for example by attaching new structures to their ends and thereby changing the properties of the workhorses）。打比方应该是FAH和Rosetta研究怎么正确的盖房子，iGEM研究怎么在已经盖好的房子上进行改扩建且不影响它原来的功能。
以上，错了不准打脸、不准拍砖，提前MSG我，我好毁灭证据。

更正：FAH是模拟蛋白质的折叠过程，而Rosetta是预测最终的形状，是通过不断折叠（并非实际折叠过程）然后找到能量最低的状态，因为蛋白质的结构一般都是能量最低的。

iGEM is an international student competition in Synthetic Biology. This is a fairly new field of biology aiming to implement artificial functions into organisms turning them into biological machines. Each year student teams from all over the world are challenged to develop new ideas for projects as diverse as using bacteria to degrade waste, produce electricity or detect dangerous chemicals.

The design of organisms with new functions requires substantial modelling exceeding the computing power of individual computers by far. With the support of volunteers, the platform iGEM@home may help iGEM Teams to realize computing tasks that arise during their projects and enable them to conduct novel approaches in Synthetic Biology.
大致看了下，iGEM是一个国际性的学生竞赛，在竞赛中学生团队来改造现有微生物来实现净化环境和发电之类的目的，也就是改造现有微生物，而这个是需要计算量的，所以就有了这个项目，也就是说志愿者们为他们提供算力。

先观望一下，不过这种形式的分布式项目还是很新颖的，差不多就是在赞助一个学科竞赛～目前BOINC的算力应该可以胜任，毕竟这个竞赛不会天天举行。

看样子他们想把这个项目做成一个平台，就像WCG和yoyo那样的。
