ources close to Microsoft confirm that the long awaited Beta for Service Pack 2 of Windows XP is due today. Newsgroups are live for testers but some of those lucky enough to be testing the new service back are still unable to download it.

Some testers have managed to sucessfully download and install SP2, the reported build is 5.1.2600.2055 (XP SP_2 Beta 1.031215-1745). We now have screenshots of SP2 installed and some of its new features.

According to sources close to Microsoft the SP2 should be available to all testers this evening. We'll keep you up to date

今天微软终于放出了Windows XP SP2 beta-1测试版，已经有人下载并安装成功，该补丁容量为212.53MB，下载地址在这里

目前只有英文版，而且由于登陆人数太多可能会出现不稳定的情况。有兴趣的朋友去尝尝鲜吧

Windows XP发布于2001年10月，其SP1补丁发布于2002年9月，而众人期待的SP2补丁却迟迟不肯露面，按照微软原计划SP2应该在今年秋季发布，但由于微软决定让SP2成为一款能够加入新特性的完善补丁，所以已经多次推迟其发布日期，日前微软高层人员表示SP2的beta测试将马上开始，而正式版将在明年中期发布。这款补丁将令用户总共等待长达两年之久。

　　以往的Service Pack仅仅是对原有错误的修复而已，而此次微软将令Windows XP SP2在修复之前错误的同时加入众多的新特性。

　　WinXP SP2将包含一个增强版本的Internet Connection Firewall（已改名为Windows Firewall）网络连接防火墙，该防火墙将大大加强用户系统的安全性，能够有效防止恶意email、恶意网页以及蠕虫病毒的攻击。

　　Windows XP SP2加入的其他新特性包括：

　　弹出窗口管理器，该管理器能够让用户自己设置是否愿意接受浏览网页时自动弹出的窗口，该设置默认为关闭状态。

　　缓存溢出保护，由于采用新的Visual Studio编译器，SP2将保证减少缓存溢出攻击

　　代码升级，将支持蓝牙无线标准、DirectX 9.0b、Windows Media Player 9系列以及统一的无线局域网客户端。

　　增强Outlook Express以及Windows Messenger特性。
