“2005—世界物理年”简介
1905年，爱因斯坦先后发表了5篇具有划时代意义的论文，为相对论的建立奠定了基础，为量子理论的发展作出了重要贡献。为纪念这一奇迹年100周年，全球物理学界一致呼吁2005年为“世界物理年”。
该倡议首先由欧洲物理学会（EPS）在2000年“第三届世界物理学会大会”上提出；2002年，得到国际纯粹与应用物理联合会（IUPAP）第24次全体大会的一致通过；在2003年召开的联合国教科文组织（UNESCO）全体会议第32次会议上，表决通过了支持2005年为世界物理年的决议；2004年6月10日，联合国大会召开第58次会议，会议鼓掌通过了2005年为“国际物理年”的决议。
近年来，公众的物理意识在削弱，国际物理学界认为必须采取行动，在“2005—世界物理年”通过展示物理在经济、技术、文化等方面的重要作用，在全球范围内争取公众对物理学的理解与支持，坚定公众对物理学的信念，推动物理教育，培养物理人才，使物理学在21世纪得到全新的发展。全球性的纪念活动包括：“物理照耀世界”光束传递活动；“寻找物理天才”；“物理史图片巡回展”等。中国物理学会也在积极筹备纪念活动，如：制作宣传海报；推荐优秀图书；组织“世界物理年”专题论坛；组织“物理与交叉科学专题研讨会”；组织知识竞赛及夏令营；发行邮资封等。

让物理奏出出时代进步的音符
——为“世界物理年”而作

伴着新年的钟声，“世界物理年”——每个物理学工作者自己的节日终于来到我们身边。在这激动人心的时刻，让我们追忆过去，展望未来，使“物理”这一基础学科重新辐射出迷人的光彩。
对物理工作者而言，1905年是一个奇迹年。这一年，天才物理学家——爱因斯坦发表了5篇论文，从根本上改变了物理学的面貌，为相对论的建立和发展奠定了基础，为量子理论的发展作出了重要贡献。在这一“奇迹年”100周年来临之际，全球物理学界一致呼吁2005年为“世界物理年”。该倡议由欧洲物理学会首先提出，得到国际纯粹与应用物理联合会的一致通过。2004年6月，联合国大会第58次会议通过决议，确立2005年为“国际物理年”。
纵观历史，物理学不仅在生产和生活方式上推动着人类社会的发展，更从思想观念上改变着人类文明的进程。近年来，随着科技发展的日新月异，物理学作为坚固的基石，它的发展正以前所未有的面貌推动着纳米科学、信息科学、生命科学等新兴学科的发展，而这些新兴学科也为物理学的发展与繁荣注入了新的活力。毋庸置疑，历史悠久的物理学在新世纪里非但没有过时，而且必将以其旺盛的生命力为人类的可持续发展，在能源开发与利用、环境保护、空间科学和公共健康等诸多方面发挥无可替代的作用。
尽管如此，我们应当注意，公众的物理意识正在削弱，长此下去，物理学的人才队伍势必受到影响，物理学发展前景堪忧。爱因斯坦在1905年完成那些旷世之作时只有26岁，他对自然界运行规律的非凡洞察力令所有物理学家赞叹不已。可是，百年已过，爱因斯坦并未被超越。爱因斯坦真的无法超越吗？1988年诺贝尔物理奖得主L.M.莱德曼坚信，在全球60亿人口中，一定有一颗年轻的、与爱因斯坦同样智慧的心等待着被发掘。让我们去寻觅，共同努力创造物理学光辉的未来！
中国物理学会具有70多年的悠久历史，是全国物理学工作者共同的家。这个家庭的每个成员的积极参与是我们将“2005—世界物理年”活动推向深入的基本保证。向公众普及物理思想，传播物理知识是每一个物理学工作者义不容辞的责任。“2005—世界物理年”为我们提供了一个极好的活动平台和机遇，爱因斯坦为我们树立了光辉的榜样，我们要通过各种渠道向公众展示物理学的魅力，介绍著名物理学家的奋斗历程，讲述自己对物理始终不渝的热爱，坚定公众对物理学的信念，为培养造就一批年轻的优秀物理学人才而努力。各地方物理学会应与当地政府及有关部门取得联系，积极组织科普展览，张贴宣传海报，开展与“世界物理年”相关的活动；各物理科研机构应组织开放日、公众讲座、特别注意向中小学生普及物理知识；各类学校应积极开展健康有益的活动，如组织物理知识竞赛等。为了改变女物理学家人数逐年减少的局面，活动中要注意吸引女生的注意力，提高女生在各种活动中的参与比例。开展活动时，应加强与新闻媒体的合作，扩大宣传范围，提高宣传效果。需要特别指出的是，我们每个人和每一项活动都是国际物理学界“世界物理年”纪念活动的一部分，通过全球物理学工作者的积极参与和共同努力，“物理学”将伴着时代的旋律走进百姓的生活中。
让我们行动起来，挥舞“世界物理年”这面旗帜，肩负起光大“物理学”的历史重任，为增进公众对物理学的理解，提升物理学在人类生活和社会发展中的地位和作用，提高全民科学文化素质出一份力。我们坚信，物理学——这一神圣的基础学科在全体物理学工作者的关注与努力下，必将重新焕发出青春的光芒！

中国物理学会“2005—世界物理年”活动方案

制作宣传海报两套
（1）第一套：1张，拟印制1万张。内容以国际海报为基础，增加“物理学”定义。发放范围：全国大、中、小学校及科研院所。
（2）第二套：约50张，拟印制500套。主题：推动人类文明与进步的物理学。内容：理论篇、人物篇、应用篇、中国物理学科研与教育、前沿与展望。设计方式：专家指导。展出形式：全国巡回展、赠送与出售相结合。

三、“纪念丛书”联合出版计划
与国内多家出版社合作，向公众推荐一系列集知识性、趣味性于一体的优秀科普类图书。已有17家出版社报来71本已经出版或即将出版的图书。经过两次专家评审，已决定推荐的图书共40本，已在学会网站上公之于众。
