As part of World Community Grid’s 5th anniversary celebration on November 16, we are interested to know why you chose to contribute to the humanitarian research that runs on World Community Grid. Are you a mother who survived breast cancer or have a friend who is battling muscular dystrophy? No matter the reason, we’d like to know what inspires you to donate your computer cycles to one or more of the projects running on World Community Grid.
To share what inspires you, World Community Grid is announcing a video contest! Explain what motivated you to participate in World Community Grid in a video and submit the video as follows:
During the 2-week period from Monday, November 16, 2009 through Sunday, November 29, 2009, members may upload their videos to YouTube and then submit the YouTube URL of their video here .
Submitting a video is a 2-step process: In Step 1, you enter the YouTube URL and press the submit button. In Step 2, you will be presented with the video you uploaded on YouTube. Confirm that it is correct and press the submit button. If it is not the correct video, use the back button on your browser to go back and enter the correct URL for your video and press the submit button again. When your video has been submitted, you will see a Thank You message on your screen.
Some basic rules for video submission include:
• Only one (1) video may be entered per active member. The URL of the video may be changed as often as necessary during the submission period.
• Videos will only be accepted from members who are actively participating on World Community Grid and have accumulated at least 24 hours of run time.
• Only videos that are on YouTube will be accepted.
• All videos must be less than 5 minutes in duration.
• Do not plagiarize someone else's video.
• Inappropriate videos will not be allowed in the contest and will be removed at World Community Grid's discretion.
Following the video submission period, there will be a 1-week period for World Community Grid members to vote for their five favorite videos. Some basic rules for voting include:
• Only members who are actively participating on World Community Grid and have accumulated at least 24 hours of run time will be eligible to vote.
• Eligible members may vote for up to five (5) videos.
Voting will be on the World Community Grid website. The link to the voting page will be activated when the voting period is open.
At the end of the one (1) week voting period, the five (5) videos receiving the most votes, along with the member name of the submitters, will be listed on the News & Updates pages. We will also have a special page which will show all of the videos that were submitted. We look forward to viewing your video submission.
