the new Pentium-M is a very very good chip!! on average, the 1.6Ghz P-M is faster than a P4 2.4Ghz (even Intel shows that on their site!)!! it's a very good design chip! especially in seti@home, it can easily average a WU in less than 2:30!! that's about what a 3GHz P4 could do!
and if you are going to buy one later on this year, fall/winter time, then i would suggest to wait for the next P-M chip, Dothan! it will be even faster as it will have 2MB L2 cache compare to 1MB L2 on the current chip!! it will be out at around 1.6-1.8Ghz around fall/winter time!!
