Hi everyone,
Sorry about the profound silence from myself and Alex but we've been either on holiday or just plain furiously working on other things. We did get the code upgrade done but obviously this has left some issues we need to fix and once we are both back in the same place we will be working on all the issues highlighted by you.

很抱歉最近都没什么消息发布出来，这段时间我和alex或者在休假或者在忙其它事情，服务端的代码已经升级，但还有不少问题，一旦都处理好，我们将继续原来的工作。

Today I have installed a new application "sixtrackbnl". This is simply an updated version of the sixtrack executable. We only have this available for windows at the moment but as time permits we will try to produce a linux build. This has been installed as a new application name as we wish to be able to send jobs to either the old or new version and compare results. In due course we may well rename the new executable to sixtrack and carry on as before.

Expect some test jobs on this new application to begin with. We will try to post some more information regarding the studies being performed when we get some production jobs running on it.

Hi,
It's been pretty quiet here at LHC@home we've been working behind the scenes to streamline the server and keep the code as up to date as possible.
There has also been some work on the update of the SixTrack application which we hope to roll out soon.
The news with the LHC itself since the set back last year is quite good with it running at 3.5TeV this year.
The experiments have also been busy with ATLAS and CMS and LHCb and ALICE working on refinements during the downtime.

You couldn't make it up:
LHC 'bird-bread' strike
On Tuesday 3 November, a bird carrying a baguette bread caused a short circuit in an electrical outdoor installation that serves sectors 7-8 and 8-1 of the LHC. The knock-on effects included an interruption to the operation of the LHC cryogenics system. The bird escaped unharmed but lost its bread.
The standard failsafe systems came into operation and after the cause was identified, re-cooling of the machine began and the sectors were back at operating temperature last night. The incident was similar in effect to a standard power cut, for which the machine protection systems are very well prepared.

Two announcements:
1) The LHC is back up and running you can follow its progress on the CERN twitter feed @CERN or the @lhcstatus feed. The latter is actually a scrape of the screens that the physicists watch to monitor the LHC machine.
2) LHC@home is also back. After a long quiet period we have new studies to work on. The executable has been updated (which is why there is not a Linux version available yet) and the project is now crunching simulations for the LHC upgrade. The team at CERN are working on the Linux executable and the team at QMUL are looking at the server code and are hoping to update that soon.
This is all I will say for the moment. However LHC@home is being used for beam studies from the LHC machine running actual data from the experiments is unlikely as the code has been written for the grid and the datasets are measured in 100s of gigabytes. We have been looking into other LHC uses for the project but it is not easy.

两个公告：

1）LHC 已经恢复运作，你可以从 @CERN 或者 @lhcstatus 获得它的进展信息。后者其实就是一个屏幕信息框，是给物理学家监测 LHC 机器的监视器。

2）LHC@home 也恢复运作，经过了长时间的平静期，现在有了新的研究工作。该执行文件已经被更新（这就是为什么还没有 Linux 的版本），项目正在改进模拟器以跟进 LHC 的升级。CERN 的研究小组目前正在改进 Linux 的执行文件，而 QMUL 的研究小组正在查看服务器代码，希望能尽快更新。

当前版本的计算程序存在一个关于屏幕保护程序/图形的bug，一旦运行视觉效果就会导致任务出错。

项目已经了解了这个问题，正在建立一个解决方案。

目前通知大家不要触碰“显示图形”的按钮，或者让你的屏幕程序使用 LHC@home 的图形。

As some will have heard the LHC will be trying to collide particles at 7TeV on the 30th of March. This means to beams circulating at 3.5TeV being collided. They have had the beams at this energy level since the 19th of March and have been fine tuning operations at this level since then. Once the team have 7TeV collisions the machine will run at this level for 2 years. It will then stop have some maintenace/upgrades and hopefully move to 14TeV collisions after that.

自3月19日起粒子就已经加速到3.5TeV了，将于3月30日，以7TeV（3.5*2）的相对速度进行对撞。
系统将保持这个水平运行2年，然后就停机维护/升级，希望将来能加速到14TeV。
